The third option between bribing and yelling.

TreatJar turns the daily parent-child push-and-pull into progress you can both feel good about.

The reframe

Turn the daily standoff into
a shared win.

Your child finishes a job and marks it done. You approve it. They see themselves getting closer to movie night or a savings goal. No paper chart to rescue from under the car seat. No running total living in your head. And ideally, no asking a third time.

Stars
for pitching in
Helping a sibling, putting away shoes, showing effort when no one wants to. Stars recognize the family stuff that matters without turning every good deed into a transaction.
Recognition, not a paycheck.
Money
for paid jobs
Bigger, optional jobs can earn real money at the rate you set. Kids see what work takes, parents stop carrying a running tab in their head, and everyone knows what was approved.
Real earning, clearly approved.
One place
for the whole family
Kids log progress. Parents and caregivers approve it. Rewards and savings goals stay visible, even when the paper chart has vanished under the car seat.
Good things add up.

Stars for contribution

Stars for pitching in. Money for paid jobs.

Stars recognize the things kids do because they are family: kindness, effort, helping out, and follow-through. Paid jobs are bigger and optional. TreatJar keeps the two separate on purpose.

A store they'll love

Every kid has a currency.

One child hears "extra screen time" and is already putting shoes away. Another is unmoved until a pool day is on the table. You choose the jobs, pay, star goals, and rewards that matter to each child, then change them as your family grows.

Why TreatJar exists

I wanted something that made responsibility feel visible, fair, and a little less exhausting for everyone.

I want my three kids to understand the value of hard work. I also want them to show up for our family and for one another, not because there's money in it, but because that's what families do. I couldn't find a system that made room for both.

The paper star charts did not survive a car ride, let alone a week away. By the time we got home, I could not remember who had earned what. Money from paid jobs lived as a running tab in my head, which meant I sometimes forgot to settle up. I was trying to teach responsibility while becoming the unreliable part of the system.

So I built TreatJar: stars for contributions, money for paid work, and one shared place for everyone to see what's been done. Kids can log their own progress. My husband or our sitter can approve it. Rewards and savings goals stay visible, even when I am not in the room.

The change in our house was immediate. My kids started looking for jobs, tracking their progress, and even proposing work I hadn't thought to add. When friends saw it, they wanted it for their families too. Thirty-some versions later, TreatJar is the app I wish I'd had from the start.
